Our commitment to safer gambling

Gambling is a form of entertainment. It is not a way to earn an income, to recover money already lost, or to deal with stress, boredom or difficult events in your life. We ask every player to treat money spent here the way you would treat money spent on a night out: once it is gone, it is gone.

Before you play, decide how much you can comfortably afford to lose and how long you want to spend. Set that figure as a deposit limit in your account rather than keeping it in your head. Stop when you reach it, and never top up a budget you have already used.

  • 18+ only. Our services are for adults aged 18 or over. We hold a gaming licence and verify the identity and age of every account holder.
  • Your money, your pace. Play with funds set aside for entertainment, never with money needed for rent, bills, food or credit repayments.
  • No chasing. Losses are a normal part of gambling. Trying to win them back is the most common way a budget turns into a problem.
  • Breaks matter. Long, unbroken sessions make it harder to judge how much time and money has gone.

Gambling can be addictive

If you are worried about your own play, or someone else's, the tools described below are free to use and the tighter settings take effect immediately.

The safer gambling tools in your account

Every account comes with a set of controls you can switch on at any time. They sit in the safer gambling area of your account, and our support team can apply them for you if you would rather ask. Tighter limits take effect straight away. A request to loosen or remove a limit is held for a cooling-off period and must be confirmed by you once that period has passed.

Deposit, loss and wager limits

You can cap the amount you deposit, lose or stake over a daily, weekly or monthly period. The cap applies across your whole account, and the amount remaining is shown in the cashier each time you pay in.

Session limits and reality checks

A session limit ends your play once you have been logged in for the length of time you have chosen. A reality check is a lighter option: an on-screen message appears at the interval you set, showing how long you have been playing, so you can decide whether to carry on.

Time-outs and self-exclusion

A time-out is a short break, from twenty-four hours up to several weeks, chosen in your account. Self-exclusion is a longer and firmer step: your account is closed to play for a minimum period that cannot be shortened, cancelled or reopened early for any reason. During either, we remove you from marketing lists and you will not be able to deposit.

How to switch a control on

  1. Log in and open the safer gambling area of your account.
  2. Choose the control you want: a deposit, loss or wager limit, a session limit, a reality check, a time-out or self-exclusion.
  3. Enter the amount or the length of the break and confirm it.
  4. If you would prefer not to do this yourself, e-mail support@casinohandofluck.co.uk or use the live chat on the site and we will apply it for you.

Signs that gambling may be causing harm

Gambling problems develop gradually, and they are easier to notice in hindsight than at the time. The questions below are not a diagnosis, but if you answer yes to any of them it is worth pausing and looking at your play honestly.

  • Are you spending more money, or more time, than you planned?
  • Have you deposited again after telling yourself you had finished for the day?
  • Are you playing in order to win back money you have lost?
  • Have you borrowed money, sold something, or used funds meant for bills in order to play?
  • Do you hide how much you play from family, friends or colleagues?
  • Does gambling get in the way of work, study, sleep or time with the people close to you?
  • Do you feel anxious, irritable or low when you are not playing?

If several of these sound familiar, set a time-out or a self-exclusion first, then speak to one of the organisations below. Doing both is better than doing either on its own.

Where to get help

The organisations below are not part of our business and have no interest in whether you play. Their help is free, confidential and open to anyone in the United Kingdom, including the friends and family of someone who gambles. Our support team can point you towards any of them.

  • GambleAware funds and signposts prevention and treatment services, and publishes plain information on gambling harm and where to turn next.
  • GamCare provides free counselling, group support and practical advice for people affected by gambling, in person and online.
  • The National Gambling Helpline offers confidential one-to-one advice around the clock, whether you are gambling yourself or worried about someone else.
  • GamStop is the free national online self-exclusion scheme: a single registration blocks your access to gambling sites licensed in Great Britain for six months, one year or five years.

Blocking software that stops gambling sites loading on a phone, tablet or computer is widely available, and many banks will apply a gambling block to your card on request.

Protecting minors

Nobody under the age of 18 may hold an account, deposit or take part in any game with us. We check the identity, age and address of every player, and we may ask for documents at registration, before a withdrawal, or at any other point. Accounts that cannot be verified are closed, and any winnings from underage play are void.

Most underage gambling happens on an adult's device or with an adult's card. If you share a home with children, a few simple habits make a real difference:

  • Keep your username and password to yourself and do not save them in a shared browser.
  • Log out at the end of every session rather than leaving the account open.
  • Never let anyone under 18 watch you play or place a bet on your behalf.
  • Store card details where children cannot reach them, and do not save a card in the payment settings of a shared device.
  • Install parental control or site-filtering software, and switch on the content restrictions already built into your devices and home broadband.

If you believe someone under 18 has used your account, contact us at support@casinohandofluck.co.uk or through the live chat on the site so that we can suspend the account and look into what has happened.
